Vote Compass results from Alberta election now available
April 25, 2012

Albertans went to the polls on April 23 and gave incumbent premier Alison Redford a majority government, extending the Progressive Conservatives’ 41-year reign in the province. After much speculation throughout the campaign about a surge in support for the upstart Wildrose Party, the magnitude of the PC victory came as a surprise to pollsters and journalists alike.

The Alberta edition of Vote Compass drew nearly 115,000 respondents by the close of election night and perhaps their views can help illuminate the larger dynamics of public opinion in the province. At the very least they offer a interesting cross-section into how respondents’ opinions vary on 30 important political issues.
